A gift of $575,000 from an anonymous donor enabled the C.M. Russell Museum to purchase two new watercolor paintings by Charles M. Russell. The larger painting, "Cowboy on a Bay Horse," depicts an unidentified range rider and was painted circa 1895. The small painting was created circa 1902 and is titled "An Indian War Party."
The C.M. Russell Museum secured nearly half of its yearly operating costs during March 2015’s Western Art Week exhibit and auction, Executive Director Michael Duchemin announced. "The Russell: An Exhibition and Sale to Benefit the C.M. Russell Museum" raised a total of $8.1 million, of which $1.3 million will go to the museum.
